I Sleep in Hitler's Room in NYC
Cristina Torres
Cristina Torres is a New York City born and raised performer and producer. Born into a musically inclined family of graphic designers, Cristina was exposed very early on to Jazz, Tap, Ballet as well as the violin and the piano. She remembers attending a musical theatre performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music at the age of 10 and has been dragging her parents to Broadway shows ever since!
In middle school, Cristina found a new artistic voice through her writing. She won several writing contests and started writing spoken word poetry. An avid traveler, Cristina spent a semester abroad in London visiting several European countries learning about the rich history of European theatre. Her writing led her throughout India, Thailand, Japan and Indonesia where she wrote about the different cultures and their individual interpretations of performance art.
Shortly thereafter, Cristina completed her two-year requirement in the Meisner technique at William Esper Studio under the direction of Terry Knickerbocker. Cristina has also studied with Maggie Flanigan and is currently training vocally with David Sabella-Mills, of Broadway’s original Chicago cast. Cristina has performed in several Off-Broadway productions including Antony and Cleopatra as Octavia, and In the Wilderness, an original play where she played the lead role Carmen. Cristina has also played lead roles in work performed at the University of South Florida’s Main stage with the Broadway Theatre Project. When Cristina is not performing she produces artistic work through her creative production company, CreativeMynds Project.
Cristina is grateful to have been cast in such a character-rich role Hamiyet, and thanks the Jewish Theater of New York for this opportunity.
